Our 4 favourite features to elevate your bathroom’s design

Your bathroom squeezes a lot of function into a relatively small area. It’s a place to have a shower, get ready for the day, store toiletries and towels, and so much more. It’s one of the most practical rooms in your home, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be full of character, too. Designer bathrooms blend function with clever design to create a space that fits its purpose with plenty of flair – just take a look at our customer bathrooms for examples! If you’re looking to add some personality to elevate your bathroom’s design, here are our favourite features.

1. Be unconventional with your colours

Who says that your bath and sink must always be white? If you want to add something contemporary and unique, choose a different colour for one – or both! – of these items and create an instant focal point. Grey, stone sinks are a fantastic way to play with texture and incorporate natural materials into your space, whilst a ceramic bath in a bold blue, fun pink, or exotic green can instantly lift the entire room.

2. Play around with accessories

A minimalist bathroom isn’t a bad thing and can still be made lively with accessories. If you have a white bath, toilet, and sink, along with white walls and a bare floor, the right accessories will pop against this neutral backdrop. Add a small, wooden side-table to place some glass-bottled toiletries and a candle, with green plants adding a burst of colour wherever you can fit them. A matching wooden set of shelves for folded towels and bathroom decor will leave you plenty of space to add character.

3. A bathroom doesn’t have to feel like a bathroom

Modern bathrooms can have a clinical feel, with vinyl flooring and ceramic tiles coming as standard. This doesn’t have to be the case if you don’t want it to. In fact, you can treat your bathroom as though it were a bedroom! Opt for original wooding flooring covered with a cosy rug for water splashes, hang art on the wall, and use dark colours to create plenty of atmosphere. If that doesn’t say character, we don’t know what does!

4. Consider your towel rack options

A towel rack is essential in every bathroom, but that doesn’t mean it has to look the same in every space. For a unique look, avoid chrome rails in favour of matte black or warm gold. It’s a simple switch that can add a lot of personality! Your rail doesn’t need to look like every other rail, either. You can find towel racks that extend horizontally out from the wall rather than vertically, allowing your towels to hang down above your bath. Or, be clever with your materials, using old pipes for an antique rail that’s a little out of the ordinary.
